Impact of ionic liquids on the processing and photo-actuation behavior of SBR composites containing graphene nanoplatelets

• Photo-actuation behavior was detected in the vulcanized rubber for first time. styrene-butadiene (SBR) composites filled with graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs) were investigated. ionic liquids significantly enhanced photo-actuation behavior. The effects of butylpyridinium bromide-based (ILs) on vulcanization kinetics, mechanical properties and ability Two different ILs, 1-butylpyridinium bromide (BBP) 4-methyl-1-butylpyridinium (BMBP), introduced into compounds. methodology IL incorporation compounds studied as well. ILs added either directly a single component or after immobilization onto GnPs surface. High values modulus tensile strength, which are important properties, observed immobilized BMBP. Freely dispersed BBP resulted fastest scorch time, highest thermal electrical conductivity, best response 0.230 mm.
